The first few days

Physical contact is very important for each newborn baby. Physical contact also supports the relationship between the parents and baby.

If you hold and carry your baby a lot, it will be easier for you to produce breast milk and to breastfeed your baby better.

This is particularly important after a caesarean section.

If you are in pain or are unable to move well, breastfeeding sometimes does not work or work well enough. Be patient! Allow yourself to be helped and supported by a midwife or a nurse.

Ask about when you can have contact with your baby for the first time. For your baby and you, this should take place as early as possible.
