Would you like your child to be born in a public maternity hospital in Vienna (Ottakring Hospital, Landstraße Hospital, Vienna General Hospital, St. Josef’s Hospital, Floridsdorf Hospital, Favoriten Hospital, Donaustadt Hospital)? You will need to register in advance to secure a place to give birth at your preferred clinic. The maternity information service, Geburtsinfo Wien, is here to help you with your birth registration.
Registration on geburtsinfo.wien
Please register online using the form below or by telephone on 1450 – this is the only way we can reserve a place for you for the birth of your child! Please enter your personal details and select up to three hospitals that you would prefer for the birth of your child. Then you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration and a personal registration number (please also check your spam folder). If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation, please contact us by telephone on 1450.
Important: Please let us know if your details change during your pregnancy (address, name, etc.) or if your registration is no longer required (for example, if you have registered at a private clinic).
Attention: In the event of a high-risk or complicated pregnancy, your gynaecologist will refer you directly to a specialist clinic, where you will be registered for the birth. In this case, registration via geburtsinfo.wien is not required.
A regular registration via Geburtsinfo Wien, including your preferred hospitals, is possible up to the 32nd week of pregnancy. If you are already in your 33rd week of pregnancy or later and do not yet have a due date booked at a hospital, please call 1450 immediately.
Reserving your birth place
From the 22nd week of pregnancy, we will let you know which hospital has reserved a birthing room for you. This depends on the availability of places around your due date. If none of your preferred clinics has a vacancy, we will book you a place at another clinic in your area. We will ensure that you are allocated a birthing room in any case.
Important: Please keep an eye on your post – you will receive a confirmation letter containing all contact details and relevant documents. Once you have received the letter, please arrange an appointment as soon as possible in order to register in person at the designated clinic. Please call 1450.
Registration in person
Please come to the clinic in person at the agreed time to register. Please bring the following documents with you: the booking confirmation and the accompanying documents, your e-card, a valid photo ID, the Parent and Child Health Record (Eltern-Kind-Pass), and your latest medical reports.
Important: The clinic will confirm your registration at this appointment in person. Only then is your place of birth confirmed. Please, therefore, book an appointment by calling 1450 as soon as you have received your booking confirmation.
The maternity information service Geburtsinfo Wien wishes you all the best for your pregnancy and the birth of your baby!
